India's struggle for Independence was against British Colonialism. Briefly speaking, India's struggle for freedom started even before A.O. Hume founded Indian National Congress. As early as in nineties of 18th century Raja Ram Mohan Roy came to the forefront. Before the establishment of Indian National Congress Surendra Nath Banerjea and others had set the ball rolling though not with great momentum. It was, however, in 1885 A.D. that Hume founded Indian National Congress which subsequently became one of the most leading organisations of country's national struggle.
